With Halloween fast approaching, people are already starting to brainstorm Halloween costume ideas, decorations for exciting Halloween parties, and creative fall picture ideas! One of the most creative and trendy Halloween themed picture ideas is the infamous smoking pumpkin made by putting smoke bombs (also known as colored smoke sticks, grenades, smoke flares, etc.) into a jack-o-lantern. This is a great idea for a party and/or for a social media post that'll make a big impact. Here are a few simple steps for how to make your smoking pumpkin.
Step 1: Buy Your Grenades
We recommend the Wire Ring Pull or Pull String Grenades for your smoking pumpkin because their burst lasts up to 80 seconds and they both have an awesome affect. We have a variety of smoke bomb colors ranging from white, purple, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and black. We also have a 6 pack smoke bomb of Halloween colors- purple, orange, black and green! Each one lasts 60 seconds and they don't require a lighter. Simply pull the ring and they ignite. Black – The Color of Darkness and Death. Orange – The Vibration of Life and Color of Pumpkins. Purple – A Witches Brew. Green – Monsters and Slime.
Step 2: Carve Your Pumpkin
This one's pretty self-explanatory. Get to carving!
Step 3: Do a Practice Run
Before setting off your smoke bomb, figure out which poses you want to do so that you can make the most of the time you have while your bomb is smoking. We have some great smoking pumpkin pose ideas on our
Pinterest page.
Step 4: Set off the Smoke Bomb
Look at our
FAQ page to see how to set them off most effectively and safely. Make sure pull at a 90° angle in one smooth motion. Don't worry if it takes a few tries! After you've set it off, immediately set it in the pumpkin and start taking your shots!
Step 6: Start Taking Your Shots
Move around every 10 seconds or so to make sure you get a variety of photos. Make sure you use every second wisely, as the smoke bombs last for around 60-90 seconds. Purchase a few extra smoke bombs to make sure you get that perfect shot!
